The Opportunity

 

Arden Theatre Company, a well-established professional arts organization in Philadelphia, programmed the play 74 SECONDS…TO JUDGMENT during it’s 2018-19 season.  The work, composed by regional writer Kash Goins, was not a typical offering for the company’s subscription series.  The challenge was to attract a new audience demographic for the production.

Approach

 

We built a relationship with Mr. Goins and the show’s director, Amina Robinson, and tapped into their strong community connections.  The show was pitched to urban outlets and journalists who appealed to African American audiences.  We also did not shy away from the content of the production, which was inspired by the series of deaths of unarmed black people by white people.

The Result

 

74 SECONDS…TO JUDGEMENT was featured in numerous outlets, including FOX29’s “The Q,” WDAS, KYW Newsradio, NBC10, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and more.  The show extended its run due to popular demand as many performances sold out.  It was considered a major success for the Arden.
